The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is the first Tablet running Android OS 3.0 (Honeycomb) to reach the UK. Could the Transformer be the Apple iPad’s first serious (available) competitor? Let’s take a quick look at what’s inside.

Android 3.0 OS
That’s right the Asus Eee Pad Transformer comes with the brand new Android 3.0 OS named honeycomb. Aptly named the new Android 3.0 OS comes with a complex honeycomb of new features and upgrade. Here’s just a few.
- System-wide system bar for convenient access to system status and notifications
- Whilst in apps access is given to options, navigation and widgets through the action bar
- 5 customizable home screens
- List of recently used apps so you can quickly switch between them
That’s just a small list of new features, some more like the improved copy and paste weren’t included.
What’s this about a Keyboard?
Yes the main feature of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer is the dockable keyboard. The new dockable keyboard feature means that instead of having to use a sometimes un responsive onscreen virtual keyboard users can simple attach the dockable keyboard and type away at their leisure.
What’s special about the screen?
The Asus Transformer boasts a 10” capacitive touch screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution. But what does that mean when we speak in plain talk. Well the 10” capacitive touch screen just means that it’s a touch sensitive (like all tablet pc’s) and the 1280 x 800 resolution means that your images are going to be clear and crisp rather than blocky an pixelated.
Should I get one?
It’s a definite yes if you ask me. A dockable keyboard and 10” screen almost made it a certainty for me, throw in a 1GHz Processor and 1GB RAM and that’s All I’m going to need from a tablet in a very long time. With the only downside being a stupid long name the Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a definite buy and might even replace my iPad.
